Landing experience at Toronto Airport for PR holders

Landing at Toronto Airport

My flight was on 17th July 2014 2:30 AM , jet airways via Brussels..

Here is my landing summary..

Luggage allowed was 2x23Kgs + 7Kgs cabin + laptop bag.

Didn’t face any issue at Delhi airport.. a small advice try keeping the weights of the bags under limit (+1 kg would be fine).

The flight started on time from delhi, and landed on time at Brussels. There we had to get down at airport for around 1.5 hours,
had to go for security re check. No transit visa required, and time was enough for us to get out and re board.

We had to fill the declaration form in flight before landing in Toronto.

Friends carrying POF, do declare that you are carrying more than 10K CAD. There are 5 check boxes, one of which asks if you are carrying more than 10K CAD.
This is very important. Also listen to the announcement in the flight about which belt your baggage would be (can confirm with air hostess).

Then post landing there are multiple counters like we have in delhi who check our passports and declaration form and boarding pass.

The person who checks your document should circle the check box which states that you are carrying more than 10K. If he does not notice remind him.

Once you cross that, all visitors would be going left, immigrants are required to go right(they will guide you which way for immigrants).

There is a room in which you will see a queue (can be long or small .. depends how many flights landed simultaneously).

They will call you one by one. They person at the counter will confirm your details.. which would be there in the COPR.

The person will confirm if all details on the COPR are correct. You just need to say yes all are correct. They can check your DD also sometimes.
The person will ask for the address on which your PR card would come, take a printout of the address on which you would want the card to be delivered (a relative’s or friend’s)
and you would not have to spell out the address to the person sitting. They will take your signatures on the COPR and will return one copy to you, keep that also very very safely.
and guys one important thing:
people here write date format as mm/dd/yyyy, our COPRs have date format as yyyy/mm/dd. This confuses the guys sitting over the counter.

For e.g. if your DOB is 3rd Apr 1980, the COPR would have 1980/04/03, now these people can take it as 4th Mar 1980.
While they fill your details on their system, remind them that your DOB is 3rd Apr 1980 and not 4th Mar 1980, coz even if by mistake
they enter your date wrongly it can cause problems .. and trust me it would be a major problem..

After you are done on that counter, ask that person about SIN, there would be 4 more counters on your left.
Go to one of them or wait for them to call you, just stand in the queue(if present).

SIN can be made at airport only if you are landing at day time before 5 PM (mon-fri). It can be made later as well from any of the
government centres where you would be staying.

They dont issue SIN cards now, only a printout would be given, keep it very very carefully.

After you come out of the airport, just before coming out on right side a lady would be giving you a red bag with some documents
related to health insurance.

And after you come out some more documents(for new immigrants) would be given near to the security guard.

Dont miss any of the persons which i have said, all are important.

Ask security guard which way to go for collecting luggage.

After you collect your luggage(trolleys are free like india) dont exit, ask guard which way to go for declaration (you should still
have your declaration form with you till that point).

There would be multiple counters in which the person will ask to fill a form, take his/her help in case you are unable to figure out anything.

For people carrying jewellery or goods to follow, you need to submit the list and photographs here.

They will stamp one copy and return it to you.

Keep 2 copies of list and photos.

This is the last step and you are done.. welcome to canada… your dream land…

Important points:
1. Keep the 2 copies of COPR and Demand Draft for POF with you always, try buying a pasport holder and keep all things in it with you.

2. Declare that you are carrying more than 10K CAD in declaration form which you fill before landing in the flight.

3. Check your COPR twice thrice 100 times to confirm all details on it are correct. There should not be even a small error in it.

4. Any person who checks declaration document, tell them if they dont notice that you have more than 10K.

Will share more things later.. can message/mail me anytime for any queries you have.
Thanks friends for all your support and wishes, hope to see you all here in canada soon.
